Updating the WHOIS contact details on a domain name

What is WHOIS and Why Does It Matter?

WHOIS is a public database that records the registered owner of a domain name along with their contact information. It ensures transparency and helps track ownership details. Keeping your WHOIS details up-to-date is essential because important notifications (such as renewal reminders) are sent to these contacts.

How to Update Your Domain Contact Information

  1. Log in to your myMNC account

    • Go to myMNC and enter your login details.

  2. Access Domain Management

    • Click the Services link at the top.

    • Select Domain from the menu.

  3. Choose the Domain to Update

    • Locate the domain name you need to update.

    • Click the right arrow button.

  4. Edit Contact Details

    • Select Contacts information settings.

    • Update the Registrant Email Address and other domain contact information.

    • Ensure the details are accurate and valid, as required by registrar policy.

Protecting Your Contact Information (ID Protection & Privacy)

Since WHOIS records are publicly accessible, businesses and individuals may wish to keep their contact details private. MNC offers free ID Protection for eligible domains. This feature hides your personal information from public WHOIS searches, enhancing privacy and security.

Final Notes

Ensure that all domain contact details are accurate and up-to-date to avoid missing critical emails. If privacy is a concern, consider enabling ID Protection to keep your personal information hidden from public WHOIS searches.
